Planning a trip to beautiful Central Oregon? Let me share a few of my favorite things with you! I have been living over here for 4 months now, but have always been a frequent visitor. Here’s a break-down of what I think you “must do” when visiting during the winter months (new post coming for the warmer months later on).

Lodging: Before I lived here, my favorite places to stay were Sunriver, The Oxford or the Hilton Garden Inn. The two hotels have great access to shops, restaurants, concerts, and all that the Bend “downtown” life has to offer. Staying in a great central location will make the rest of your trip even more enjoyable.

Dining: Immersion Brewing is top on my list for amazing food! Their rosemary pretzels are the perfect appetizer and yummy way to cool down your mouth while sipping a spicy “Sunburnt Margarita.” The casual atmosphere makes it appropriate for all ages! If you’re into brewing like my father, than you’ll want to sign up to make your own beer back in the kitchen! We’re signed up to do that this spring. 🙂

Looking for a romantic and cozy atmosphere? 900 Wall has you covered. The dim lights make it easy to relax and visit over “Moscow mules” for hours.

You’re always safe with 10 Barrel Brewing, Barrio, Deschutes, The Victorian and many more! Bend has some amazing food. Try something new and let us know what you think!

Activities: Of course you have the amazing Mt. Bachelor just a few miles from downtown but I don’t need to convince you to visit the mountain. If skiing and snowboarding aren’t your thing, you still have many other snowy fun options! Try snowshoeing or tubing.

Want to warm up and relax after a day on the slopes? McMenamins has a wonderful salt tub that you can soak in before heading out to their fire pits to recharge with refreshments.

On your way back to Portland, make sure to stop at Smith Rock! Just outside of Redmond but before Madras is the pull off for this beautiful hike. If it’s icy you may need boots but don’t let that scare you! The view from any of the different trails is breath-taking and it’s the perfect way to kill some energy before your car-ride back over the mountain.

I hope that you enjoy your visit and try some new things! Share pictures 🙂
